OnePlus 15 Gaming Performance Test: 120FPS Stability, Heating & Battery Drain

OnePlus 15 BGMI gaming test 120FPS and 165FPS performance review

OnePlus 15 BGMI Gaming Test – Can It Really Hit 165FPS? Full Performance Review

Hello everyone! In today’s post, we are testing the OnePlus 15 in BGMI with a complete, in-depth gaming performance review.

You’ll see whether this phone really delivers 120FPS and the hyped 165FPS gaming using Hyper Frame Rate mode.

OnePlus has changed the design completely this time. Unlike the circular camera layout on the OnePlus 13, the OnePlus 15 comes with a fresh new camera module. Tell me in the comments—which design do you like more?

OnePlus 15 Key Specs (Gaming Focus)

 • Processor: Snapdragon 8 Elite (Zen5 architecture)

 • Display: 165Hz AMOLED

 • Price:

 • Without discount – ₹73,000

 • After discount – ₹69,000

 • Gaming Features:

 • Hyper Frame Rate (up to 165FPS boosting)

 • Ultra Touch Response

 • Network Enhancement

 • In-built FPS Meter

 • Color Boost, Eagle Eye View

 • Mis-Touch Prevention

BGMI Gaming Test Setup We tested the phone in these conditions:

 • Brightness: 50%

 • Battery: 100% (starting)

 • Room Temperature: 26°C

 • Volume: Max

 • Test 1: Smooth + 120FPS

 • Test 2: Hyper Frame Rate ON (165FPS boosted)

BGMI 120FPS Performance – Stable & Smooth

The first match was played on Smooth + 120FPS in Erangel.

FPS Results

 • During jump: 102–112 FPS

 • During battles: Stable 120 FPS

 • Average FPS: 113 FPS

 • Lowest FPS drop: 46 FPS (rare scene changes)

Temperature

 • Front: ~38.3°C

 • Back: 38°C

 • No overheating at all.

Conclusion:

At 120FPS, the OnePlus 15 performs extremely well smooth gameplay, no lag, and controlled thermals.

165FPS Hyper Frame Rate Mode  Real or Gimmick?

BGMI does NOT officially support 165FPS.

The phone adds extra frames using interpolation (Hyper Frame Mode).

Issues Noticed

 • Gyroscope sometimes reverses direction

 • Smoothness reduces slightly

 • Some frames repeat, causing mini-stutters

 • Not ideal for competitive gameplay

FPS Results

 • Maximum FPS: 164 FPS

 • Average FPS: 159 FPS

 • Lowest drop: 101 FPS

 • Temperature: ~42°C

Conclusion:

Yes, it can push 165FPS…

BUT the gyro reversal + decreased smoothness makes this mode useful only for fun/TDM not for serious gameplay.

Battery Drain Test

Gaming for 1 hour 2 minutes (120FPS + 165FPS):

 • Battery dropped: 14%

 • Result: Very good battery optimization

120FPS vs 165FPS – Which is Better?

Setting.   Performance.   Heating.  Smoothness. Recommended?

120FPS.  Very     Stable Low.   Super Smooth

✔✔✔ Highly. 165FPS. High. Medium. Mixed

❌ Not for serious gaming

Best Recommendation → Play on 120FPS.

It’s smoother, stable, and more reliable.

Final Verdict Is OnePlus 15 Worth Buying for Gaming?

Pros

✔ 120FPS performance is excellent

✔ Display is smooth

✔ Good battery life

✔ Temperature under control

Cons

❌ Price is on the higher side

❌ OnePlus 13 had a better 2K display

❌ Camera downgrade

❌ Hyper Frame Mode not stable

❌ iQOO 15 launching soon with better performance

My Recommendation:

If your goal is 120FPS gaming, OnePlus 15 is solid.

But for value, performance & stability—

iQOO phones (iQOO 13, iQOO 15, Neo 10 Pro, Poco F7) are better options.

Should You Buy OnePlus 15?

✔ Yes — if you want stable 120FPS gaming.

❌ No — if you want perfect 165FPS or top camera performance.
